Letter of Endorsement/Statement of Interest

If you think a Centre for Community Innovation and Design for Waterloo Region is a good idea, we encourage you to send us a letter of support.

  • Do you see youself/your organization as a potential tenant, associate or community member...?
  • Do you see the potential for partnering in the provision of services or programs...?
  • Do you have resources or capacities that could contribute to its development...?
  • Do you just think its a great idea; that such a network of centres would be a valuable asset for the communities of Waterloo Region...?

Your letters of support will energize and embolden our Placemaker's Circle and will demonstrate interest in our vision of the CCID to prospective funders and other supporters.

The following guidelines may help in your letter writing.  Please consider them suggestions. 

  • Address your letter to "The Civics Research Cooperative" and "The Placemaker's Circle"
  • Include a title along the lines of "A letter of support for a Centre for Community Innovation and Design in Waterloo Region"
  • Include a clear endorsement of the vision  (see the introduction)
  • Include a clear statement of your interest (Do you consider yourself or your organization to be a prospective tenant, associate, partner-in-development, or community member with occasional access to space - or some combination of these?)
  • Include a brief statement of what excites you most about the prospect of a CCID
  • Include your name and/or the name of your organization/business and your contact information

You might also consider including the following:

  • a brief outline on how the CCID would meet your requirements and serve your interests. What are you looking for in a CCID?  What particular elements would you like to emphasize?
  • a brief statement of how the CCID would facilitate your activities and work, and what impact that would have upon your effectiveness and development. Please focus on your greatest challenges, strengths, and your own vision for the future.
  • a brief statement on impact: how would you see a centre like the CCID facilitate learning, development, collaboration, and innovation?
  • a brief statement on the ways in which a CCID would be a unique addition to your community and Waterloo Region and on how it would compliment the many other assets we have access to, and the work of other organizations.
  • a brief comment regarding the development process, with particular referance to your own interest in being part of this process (see the Placemaker's Circle)
