Our online surveys
We are committed to exploring the requirements and preferences of organizations across Waterloo Region and, from the information we gather, developing viable models for a CCID that address those preferences and requirements. Following initial consultations on a Centre for Community Innovation and Design in Waterloo Region - which were very positive - we designed online surveys (among other methods) to learn more about your interests in becoming a tenant, associate or user of the CCID, and your requirements and preferences.
Thank-you to all of you who took the time to complete the in-depth surveys.
These are now closed.
If you still want to provide brief comments, the short survey remains open.
We may not be able to incorporate responses into the current report, but they can be used to inform the next stage.
The intent was to explore a number of options and meet a number of objectives in asking the questions we did. None of the options or objectives to be considered are mutually exclusive. In regard to creating a CCID, we wondered if a number of people might be prepared to move into a multi-tenant share spaced building right away, so had several questions to explore this option by asking about preparedness, requirements, and preferences. Judging from reports on multitenant centres, starting a centre with a small number of tenants and associates is a viable development option - and one that opens the door to further development.
Reports emphasize that there are a number of facets to consider in developing a multi-tenant, shared space centre. To the degree possible, those facets were covered in the surveys. Last, best practices advanced by others emphasize the need for considerable, early, and sustained community participation in the design and planning process. These questionnaires were considered to be the beginning of that process.
There were four questionnaires in total. The first survey listed below is the only one that remains open. It is an abbreviated version for those of you who are interested in a CCID and are open to sharing a few thoughts on your preferences and requirements.
- The short survey on ideas and interests (click here to do the survey): This survey asks-7 short answer questions on your preferences and requirements. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
The three longer surveys - which asked more detailed questions about requirements and preferences - are now closed. Typical to online surveys, respondents were able to save answers and complete their survey at a later date. The surveys were presented in ranked order, given an expectation that respondents might not have time to complete them all.
- Ideas and Interests: This survey focused on the essential concept of a Centre, respondent's interest in becoming a tenant, associate, or partner of it, and respondent's basic requirements and preferences. The survey took approximately 45 minutes and included several required questions (mostly multiple choice) as well as others that respondents could choose whether or not to answer.
- About yourself and your organization: This questionnaire focused on respondent's work, business, and/or organization. This information was used to determine if we were reaching our target audiences and also guided the development of models for the CCID by providing a bit more detail on who is interested. This survey took approximately 15 minutes.
- Space, services, and programs: This questionnaire focused on respondent's space, service, and program requirements. The information respondents provided will lead us all to a more detailed and nuanced understanding of requirements and preferences for individuals, organizations and small businesses across Waterloo Region. This survey took approximately 30 minutes and had a few required questions (mostly multiple choice) as well as others that respondents could choose whether or not to answer.
